KITESURFING LOCATIONS AUCKLAND & MATAKANA
We run our lessons in locations from Auckland City to the Matakana Coast. Being a fully mobile kitesurfing school means we will be at the best location for the conditions. Our favourite lesson locations for beginners are situated on beaches, which offer shallow and flat waters. This makes them perfect to learn kitesurfing!
About the Matakana Coast:
With uncrowded beaches and kilometres of unspoiled pristine coastlines and crystal clear water, the Matakana Coast offers perfect conditions for water sports. The Matakana Coast is reached within a 1 hour drive from Auckland CBD.
Below are some (but not all) of our most frequented spots in Auckland and on the Matakana Coast.
SNELLS BEACH (MATAKANA COAST)
Located on the Matakana Coast, Snells Beach is easily reached within one hour north of Auckland CBD (60 kms).
Snells beach is a hidden gem! Steady wind, shallow, flat and clear water and an uncrowded beach makes Snells beach the perfect kiteboarding location for our kitesurfing lessons.
Snells beach is great on North/East, East and South/East winds. The best time to kite is at mid tide but all tides are kite-able.
OMAHA LAGOON (MATAKANA COAST)
Situated 60 kms north of Auckland CBD Omaha is easily reached within one hour from Auckland CBD. Our Omaha surf shop is located at the Omaha Lagoon.
The Omaha estuary can be a great flat water location!
Kite-able in all wind directions, but W can be gusty. The Omaha estuary is the only spot in the Matakana area that works on South/West winds. The best time to kite surf is at mid- high tide.
POINT CHEVALIER (CENTRAL AUCKLAND)
Point Chevalier is practically right in Auckland City and therefore very convenient if you are living, working or holidaying in central Auckland.
Point Chevalier is great for our kite surf lessons as the water is shallow.
Point Chev is great on any wind from North/ West to South/ West.
